About me:
I am a graduate of the University of Denver with degrees in Communications and Economics.
Thirty-eight years ago, I purchased my home in Pacifica’s Back of The Valley, and have lived there ever since. I love this place.
My long career including as a business owner serving the highest levels of tech industry development — AT&T, Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard, Intel, and many other companies on successful projects throughout the U.S. and globally, has taught me a lot about leadership.
Currently, I am engaged in preserving Pacifica’s wealth of environmental treasures for future generations, which includes monitoring the health of shoreline tide-pool populations and the steelhead trout migrations in San Pedro Creek.
As a longtime participant in the Pacific Beach Coalition, I regularly work on cleanups and have served on their Board of Directors.
Now my goal is to work for the Citizens of Pacifica District 4.
In these challenging times, we need leaders like Mark Hubbell who brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. His commitment to our community, coupled with his deep understanding of business dynamics, makes him uniquely qualified to tackle the issues we face today.
I wholeheartedly support Mark for Council and encourage everyone to join me in voting for a leader who not only understands the intricacies of governance but also possesses the foresight to propel our community forward.
- Deirdre Martin — Former Mayor, City of Pacifica
Pacifica's greatest asset is it's people.
Mark has an honorable track record of listening to Pacificans and supporting their values by pro-active "hands on" hard work and advocacy. He has demonstrated a commitment to empowering the Public by making sure we will all be well-informed with honest and timely information. We shouldn't be surprised by important choices made in our City, we should be part of the decision making process. We want Elected Representatives to remember that we are a "government of, by and for the people." We are not stupid sheep. Thank you Mark for caring and for being willing to work as a City Council person.
Sue Digre — Four term City Council Member, Former Mayor.
Every election brings an opportunity for change and the promise to make our City a better place for its residents and visitors. We need your voice and representation to preserve and improve the best of what Pacifica has to offer without sacrificing the essence of Pacifica. We need council members who are informed and engaged and that will serve the interests of the majority of Pacifica residents and do what is best for our Environment and Community. Looking toward the future, I am certain you will succeed in these goals.
- Leo Leon — served over 8 years on the Pacifica Planning Commission and as chairperson of Planning Commissioner.
I am pleased to endorse Mark for Pacifica City Council. I have known him since shortly after retiring here in 2008. I have collaborated with him on a diverse set of activities related to important issues of effective Pacifica government, especially public safety, environmental sustainability, and public education and openness.
What is it about Mark that makes him a superior candidate for City Council?
• Mark is informed. He follows important issues and is willing to invest his time to seek out/explore and understand different views and perspectives. He doesn’t just follow normal public information sources, he reaches out to get a first hand perspective from people directly involved in policy and decisions.
• Mark is genuinely interested in our city. I have discussed with him in depth diverse issues including:
a) ideas to make Pacifica a stronger family destination point based on our natural environment,
b) feasible options for the reclamation-preservation of the contentious quarry,
c) his successful initiative to officially name the Rockaway headlands to Aramai Point with the federal naming authority,
d) how to improve wildfire preparedness in Pacifica,
e) the need for a social media network to inform Pacifica about upcoming and ongoing environmental issues (which he created)… And other diverse issues important to our community.
• Mark is engaged. He chooses to participate in official City deliberations by conveying his opinions and constructive suggestions. His public comments to our city government reflect the personal assets I cite above. He is supportive but critical when needed, direct and substantive, and always respectful.
I believe that the assets Mark Hubbell will bring to our City Council will benefit our city not only in his specific personal approach to information-based problem solving and open communication, but by broadening the critical process of open deliberation. Mark is good for Pacifica!
